Melva Mackin
The Capitol must be very different from your home district. What's your favourite thing about the Capitol so far?
Melva was nervous, that was fact. They had told her just to be herself during this interview, but that still didn’t help her nerves any. She was so nervous that she had her hands clamped together in her lap, and she almost missed the question. Melva blinked, what was her favorite thing about the capital? She bit her lip and glanced around, time to grow up Mevla…she told herself. I can do this! She flashed a friendly, girl next door smile and answered, “Well, I have to say I like how everyone here isn’t afraid to try something new. I ain’t never been so dressed up in my whole life!”
What is your life like back home? What's your family like?
She let her hands loosen, before she realized it, was playing with the ends of her hair. Melva genuinely smiled as she thought about home, and her family. She really did miss them something awful, even her baby sister, who was usually quite annoying. “Well…I fish. My family, we are just a simple family that fishes, working together and living the best life we can. It’s really quite pleasant.” Melva smiled and took a look around.
Is there a special someone in your life?
Melva giggled at the question. She couldn’t help it! “Shoot no! No one special.” Melva leaned forward a bit and spoken a little softer, “But most girls my age at least got a crush, right?” She sat back up hid another giggle. It was true. There wasn’t a boyfriend or anything back home. Beside working, helping her family make a living didn’t leave much room for romance.
How are you planning to win the games?
”Well, now…. I can’t go giving away all my secret planning!” Melva slapped her hand on her knee grinned, and winked at the host. Then she laughed lightly before speaking again. “I just plan on surviving. I got certain skills from back home that should come in handy!”
You seem like such a friendly, simple country girl….Do you think that will help or hinder you in the arena?
Melva fought to keep her smile in place with this question. It was odd how he just knew what question to ask here. And it was one she was pondering over in her head herself. So how was she going to answer when she didn’t know the answer? Melva shrugged a shoulder, and let her smile fall showing a serious side. “I guess we will just have to wait and see….won’t we?”
That's all we have time for. Melva Mackin from District 4, everybody!
”Ah shucks….we done already?” Melva flashed a smile at the host and then at the camera and the audience in whole. This had been fun! “Well, thanks!”
